As a testimony to its deep-rooted commitment to create a sustainable future for people and nature, Syngenta Biologicals has published the last Sustainability Report that describes the environmental, social and governance performances of its legacy company, Valagro, in 2022.

This will be the last year in which the Company will report the sustainability achievements of Valagro, as July 2023 marked the birth of the new joint brand Syngenta Biologicals.

As a significant evolution of the previous reports, the present edition includes the sustainability achievements of the whole perimeter of the Valagro Group, together with the most important projects and initiatives that Valagro has carried on with its internal and external stakeholders worldwide.

In particular, 2022 saw important advancements in further integrating sustainability in the Company’s organizational aspects, with the creation of a sustainability function inside the organization. This allowed for significant improvements in the Company’s reporting capability, and made possible the quantification of Scope 1 and 2 emissions on a Group level for 2022 data, in an effort that will allow us to tailor and implement further and effective strategies for decarbonization. Furthermore, an overview is given of all the activities that Valagro has put into action to reduce its environmental footprint, from water consumption to raw materials use, waste management, and others. Finally, other important achievements conducted on a global level are described, related, among others, to product sustainability, valorization of our resources, and relationship with local communities. All performances of the are reported according to the international standards dictated by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).

With the publication of this final report, the Valagro Group’s commitment to sustainability comes full circle. However, in continuity with this important tradition, Syngenta Biologicals will build on this important legacy and give continuity to such commitment, with ambitions and concrete actions towards a future that is more respectful of the environment and of its inhabitants.
