Once a substance is extracted, the identification process begins.
The Valagro laboratories use different instruments to identify the nature and quantity of each single substance present in the vegetal extract.
The first step is the identification of the substances present into the extract from a chemical and physical point of view.
The second step is the biological characterization of them.
It means we have to understand if they are able to interact with the plant metabolism.
The chemical and physical identification is carried out with the adoption of the most updated equipments (GC - Gas Chromatography, HPLC - High performance Liquid Chromatography, GC-MS - Gas Chromatography-mass spectrometry) available in the Valagro lab.
The biological characterization is obtained through a series of field trials and also by the application of the Genomic Approach (Micro- Array tech).
By adopting the Genomic Approach technology, Valagro is able to understand the real contribution of each component present in the product’s formula in terms of its ability to interact with the plant genome.
The ability of a substance to over-express the activity of one or more plant genes is related to the ability of the substance to improve one or more metabolic pathways (for instances pathways related to the synthesis of Anthocyanins, the sugar content into the fruits, the vegetative development, the resistance to the stresses, etc.).
