Valagro’s history tells of great value.
A value constructed starting from the territory, shared with the people who live and work in that territory, made unique by the incessant search for innovation in complete respect of nature and ethics.
A value sustained by a daily commitment, with time taken to further and further off countries, with unchanged success.
Because it brings with it economic development, in the mark of sustainability.
The beginnings
The passion for development began in 1980 with the production and marketing of fertilisers in the valley of the river Sangro, in Abruzzo, Italy, with the majestic peak of the Majella in the background.
Customer orientation and scientific research allowed the company to succeed in gaining popularity on the Italian market throughout the 1980s.
International success
Skill, quality and innovation, allow us to look further afield.
In the 1990s, the company opened up to the European market, with incredible results in Spain first, and then in the rest of Europe. The strengthening of export has taken Valagro products worldwide, from the east to south America.
The growing demands from the international market led Valagro to set up branches and acquire companies abroad, right through to diversifying our supply.
Industrial diversification
The years 2000 saw Valagro acquire bio-nutrients from the American Nutrecology, specialised in special fertilisers, seaweed extracts from Norwegian Algea and Nordtang and the English Maxicrop with its subsidiaries in Australia and New Zealand, but also the French Samabiol with an organic approach to agriculture.
This input led Valagro to work in more than 80 different countries, with quality certified by the most important international authorities.
The Valagro world today
Growth and diversification have forced Valagro to carefully re-think the organisational structure, invest significantly in research, and particularly in genomics, and to divide it all up into four large business areas: Farm for agriculture, Garden for gardening, Turf & Ornamentals for grass lawns, and Industrials for local and industrial industry.
In thirty years of history, Valagro has come a long way.
We have forged through ambitious thresholds, because we have successfully kept our deep roots firmly within ‘our’ valley, retaining values and identity, convinced that socially correct choices will also prove to be economically winning solutions.
Yesterday as today.
Certainly as tomorrow.
